S-8 / Play Practice

Workshop with Abhilash Ningappa
In the frame of Open Spaces/Sommer Tanz 2017

This workshop is focused on fundamentals of breath, speed, energy and core of the body. Play Practice is influenced by Kalari Payattu and Contemporary Dance. In this technical workshop a warm-up training is based on martial arts principles, leading into phrase work. Observing the reaction of the body, recollecting or replaying the phrase and identifying it as a new form. It guides the body through various changes of breath and power, experiencing strength and stamina. Play Practice is an ongoing movement practice, which Abhilash has developed over a period of time in collaboration with various practitioners of different disciplines within dance and martial arts. It creates a language which can speak universally through sharing knowledge and principles.
