W-12 / The Moving Voice

Workshop with Ian Garside
In the frame of Winter Tanz 2017/18

Drawing on experiences from the worlds of theatre and dance, particularly DV8’s verbatim dance theatre, this workshop will explore the moving voice in the context of dance and performance. Using playful group exercises as well as explorations on a smaller scale, we invest in both the personal and the ensemble experience. We will play with physiological sound production within the body; articulation from an actors perspective; musicality and rhythm; interpreting sensation and external impetus; to using words and text - Weaving through this array of approaches to investigate how our movements and our voices are connected, physically and from the point of creative emotive potential.

People of diverse physicalities are very welcome and encouraged to attend this workshop. The studios are unfortunately not accessible for wheelchair users.
