Contemporary Training
Beginning on the floor, we move up to standing and into dynamic movement patterns that move across the floor in an ongoing manner. This is a highly physical training, that encourages anatomical awareness, stimulates neuromuscular activity and engages a use of space, time and rhythm. We conclude with a movement phrase that brings together patterns practiced during the session and that supports kinaesthetic learning. It is informed by Bartenieff Fundamentals, Body Weather Laboratory and post-modern dance techniques, and accessible to trained and non-trained dancers

Repertoire
Sara Wookey, a London-based dancer and choreographer and official certified Trio A transmitter will teach Yvonne Rainer’s Trio A (1966). Each day consists of transmitting the four strata, or layers of information of the dance, including the physical movements, spacing, gaze and pacing. In addition we will focus on remembering, through language, writing and drawing, the dance over time and play with notions of translation and archive.  Although the focus is on the physical transmission of the dance there will also be time for discussion and conceptual engagement with the work.
