Description

This project is a creative invitation of reconnecting with one’s own roots to emerge as a ‘solos’ that will co-exist in space and time and build a common landscape in a group performance. *I refer to “roots” as one’s personal movement vocabulary, body memory, mother tongue, intuition, processes, lineage, the instincts and what is (or isn’t) pleasurable and (or isn’t) organic for my body. Through guided improvisations we’ll navigate qualities of movement, images, text, voice work and contact with consent. We’ll open ourselves to what unfolds naturally, and we’ll collect relevant material, focusing on personal narratives expressed through the body. We’ll use creation and composition tools and feedback (witness and being seen) to complete the work but keeping them alive. I invite you to grant space and time to that small things your body turns into movement, and you allow it to pass. Pause. Let’s inhabit it, recognize it, give it weight. It’s a precious material. We’ll look at the work as a WHOLE and decide, considering body, stage set and sound space, ensuring the scenes are connected like roots.

Additionally there is a  Contemporary class with Maddi Fuente Ubani from 02.06. - 09.07.2025 (Mo 09.06. holiday) | Mon & Wed 18:15-19:45These classes will prepare the body for creativity using contemporary dance techniques, fostering care and responsiveness to individual needs. We will explore movement qualities and improvisation, emphasizing group awareness and composition through deep listening to ourselves and our somatic vocabulary. This is an invitation to engage with the proposed material and make it your own. Our focus will be on how we move, awakening a curious and expressive body.

Maddi Fuente Ubani (she/they) is a Basque freelance interdisciplinary artist, creator, and facilitator based in Berlin since almost 8 years.  As a creator, Maddi's work explores the intersections of body-memory, and voice/sound work and it’s landscapes. She is a co-founder of Ore Ama Collective (“masa madre”, sourdough in Euskera), a migrant FLINTA* performance collective in Berlin, created as a place of mutual support and artistic research in response to difficult conditions in the performing arts. Their latest self-produced works, Homes & Songs and Subterráneas, have been presented at Berliner Festspiele, REFO and Hosek Contemporary.
As a performer, they collaborated with the director Leila Patzies in the piece Space inBtetween and her last creations as a choreographer has been: Tracing Echoes at Hamburger Bahnhof Museum in Berlin and I was together at Theater POOL, as a final result of the performance Project “Giving space to the ephemeral”.  Maddi also facilitates movement sessions for the FLINTA* community at Neue Nachbarschaft/Moabit and weekly movement research and composition classes at Tanzfabrik, Berlin.
