Oriental Contemporary

Kurs with Kokomini Nemesi

A mixture of oriental and contemporary dance
A newly developing movement language is introduced in this course, which results from the mixture of two very different, interesting and diverse dance styles. Oriental Dance, in which the emphasis is on complex movements in the body centre, and Contemporary Dance, in which movements that transcend space and levels also shape the dance, are combined here. Organic, fluid movements, shimmys as well as accentuated isolations, which are built into fixed sequences of movement in Oriental Dance, are taken out of its context and integrated into Contemporary Dance, so that they flow into elements such as floor work, turns, acrobatics, jumps, etc. and thus give them a new form of expression. The knowledge gained from Oriental Dance regarding the manifold movement possibilities of the body leads to the development of a more advanced and complex movement language in which all parts of the body are integrated. Individual movement elements are connected by spiral and wave-like movements of different body parts and can merge organically into each other. After a warm-up, dance technique combinations will be taught, which include both focal points of oriental dance and contemporary dance. Afterwards a dance phrase is worked on. This is dynamic, varied, expressive and can be learned by everyone. Furthermore, improvisation exercises are also included. First and foremost, fun in dance and movement, detached from a certain style, should be conveyed. This course is suitable for all levels. Beginners have the chance to get to know and internalize the dance form. Advanced dancers can deepen their knowledge and be inspired.
