Maria Mercedes Flores Mujica is a syncretic inter(un)disciplinary Venezuelan dance artist based in Cologne. Her classes and choreographies are based on the multidimensionality of rhythm and its perception. With empowerment-oriented, pleasure driven body practices, and aesthetics of the informal she creates performative ecosystems in and outside the stage. Her physical practice is based on the knowledges of folk and contemporary dance, celebration and rituals, social interaction, and a connection to a variety of cosmologies. Since 2019 she creates her own works in collaboration with different artists such as ON:Joy with Constanza Ruiz, flounce into flounce with Seongmin Yuk, What, Where, When are we?! with some amazing creatures. She has been awarded the Tanzrecherche NRW 2024 scholarship to continue and deepen her practice artistic practice.
