Ildikó Tóth

This class combines elements of Release technique, Contact and Forsythe improvisation methods. Starting with a warm-up on the floor, usually in the form of improvisation, we strive to acknowledge and learn to trust the floor as the main support of the body’s weight and motions. As we challenge known movement patterns by discovering varying points and ideas of initiation, we will focus on the proper use of our breathing. A movement sequence or group improvisation at the end of class provides room for experiencing the space around us, the connection to fellow dancers and the pure pleasure of moving together.

Ildikó studied dance in education at Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands. After graduating with a B.A., a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service led her to New York City in 2005. She’s worked with Bill Young/Colleen Thomas & Company, Susan Marshall & Company as well as Kota Yamazaki among others. From 2012 - 2015 she was a member of the Forsythe Company. Since fall 2015, she is a freelancer dancer and dance teacher, involved in projects with Thierry de Mey at Charleroi Danses in Brussels, Fabrice Mazliah (Frankfurt), Sebastian Matthias (Berlin) as well as Irina Pauls in Leipzig. She has taught at Tanzlabor 21 (Frankfurt), La Raffinerie (Brussels), K3 in Hamburg, Palucca Schule Dresden, the Hungarian Ballet Academy (Budapest) among others.  www.ildiko-toth.com
