Concrete Impulses

Workshop with Ilan Gratini
In the frame of WinterTanz 2022/23

In the Concrete Impulses workshop, Ilan Gratini will guide participants to discover their physical characteristics as power and their representational potential as tools. How can we recognize and use the peculiarities of our bodies? We will approach the exploration of our movement possibilities playfully, combining improvisation tasks and set vocabulary. Starting with sharpening the awareness and availability of the body in space, we will adjust to receiving and digesting information in order to subsequently activate our body's perception and potentials in the best possible way. With composition and decision-making principles, we will explore the versatile languages of our bodies and their expressiveness, which we will reflect on collectively in the group through feedback. Mindful and present, we will expand our performance skills in this way.

Accessibility Note

The workshop will be held in spoken English, follow-up questions for clarification can also be asked in French. Movement exercises will include improvisation and set movement vocabulary, where coordination and memory skills will be necessary. The very physical movement vocabulary, often in continues flow, requires a background of contemporary dance technique. You will collectively reflect on the re- and presentation of bodies and exchange about it in spoken language. Part of the work will be individual body research. If needed, a free workshop place for an accompanying assistant will be facilitated for participants with disabilities. Information about our location & studio access in Kreuzberg can be found here. For questions or more information, please contact Zoé Duflot & Elisabeth Leopold at workshop@tanzfabrik-berlin.de.
