呼吸空间 [hū xī kōng jiān]: Atempause, Atemraum, atmender Raum

Showing with Ensemble
In the frame of OsterTanz 2023

呼吸空间 is the first choreographic work of a newly formed dance ensemble consisting of 14 people of different ages and with different cultural, professional and dance backgrounds. The ensemble was founded in 2022 by Magdalena Meindl in collaboration with Tanzfabrik Berlin.

The ensemble's works emerge from the experiences, thoughts and intuitions gathered and negotiated by all its members. The ensemble is currently experimenting with two difficulties in dance:
1) being collective and individual at the same time
2) having to position themselves artistically again and again in the face of the expectations, competition and pressures of a society in hypercapitalism.

呼吸空间 takes place in a world of crises and frantic attempts at rescue. It is a world of overwhelm and exhaustion. Against this background, we experiment with (just) being there on stage. We understand "doing nothing" as a contradiction that exposes us to the question of what we actually do and want to do,- what we do when we suddenly do nothing but being itself.

呼吸空间 will be presented for the first time at Tanzfabrik Berlin's Easter Dance Festival.
