S 05 / Core to Floor: Somatic Technique
In the frame of Sommer Tanz 2015 / Open Spaces#2-2015
This workshop is designed to be an accumulation of exercises and information that participants can take home with them for their own somatic practice, warm-ups and daily training. Each session builds on a body of work drawn from the Pilates Method, yoga, BMC® and principles of Gyrotonic®. Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace and given modifications when needed. Each session will cover one aspect of embodied anatomy, which is integrated through hands-on work and guided movement using props such as soft balls and bands. Focuses include the pelvic floor and core muscles, the anatomy of breathing and the structures of the pelvis, hip joints and spine. Sessions start on the floor and move through developmental levels up to standing.
