Description

The art of fusion poetry is a vibrant, contemporary practice rooted in urban influences, blending physical styles and movement aesthetics from two distinct disciplines. This training integrates diverse physical elements to expand each participant’s movement vocabulary, enhancing coordination and spatial awareness. Classes begin with a physical warm-up to prepare and open the body for deeper movement exploration. Drawing from the groove that forms the foundation of Hip Hop, we explore layering these movements within the context of contemporary dance. Participants engage with various physical materials, including floor work, set phrases, and guided improvisations, allowing ample time for each individual to fully explore and understand each segment. In the final part of the class, we learn a dynamic choreography that invites participants to engage with their own unique movement quality, musicality, and personal expression across different musical styles. This environment fosters physical exploration and uses the body as a tool for expressing universal human emotions that can resonate with participants of all backgrounds.
