Description

This workshop offers an immersive exploration of the connection between voice, body, and movement. Participants will discover where their voice resonates within their body, its color, and content.  Through a dynamic blend of physical theater, movement, rhythm, breath, and vocal work, the workshop unfolds through the phases: Body Voice, Motion Voice, Spoken Voice, Silence Voice. Body Voice is based on body-voice training inspired by J. Grotowski’s research, which Daniela studied with Peter Rose. We’ll explore how to “carry” the voice into different parts of the body, activating the body resonators. In Motion Voice the voice becomes a natural component of the performer’s flow and movement and in Spoken Voice we make spoken language a fully embodied experience. In Silence Voice we experience the individual and political meaning of “having a voice” and of “remaining silent”, exploring the zone between silence and sound—the energetic field where voice is born.

Biographies

Daniela Marcozzi

For Daniela Marcozzi, the performing arts are a revolutionary act—an authentic tool of light and deep connection, exploring human nature’s mystery and energy and the bond between humans, other living beings, and natural forces. She is a freelance artist working in contemporary theater as a performer, director, trainer, and researcher. In 2015, she founded Marcozzi Contemporary Theater in Berlin, presenting works internationally. Her creations blend spoken text, physical actions, vocal experimentation, movement, and live music. With a master’s in environmental biotechnology and research experience in Germany and the Netherlands, she applies scientific inquiry to theatrical exploration. Her main artistic research, The Urge of Being, investigates the biology of emotions, embodiment and sensorial experience, bridging life sciences and performance.
