Description

“In dance, the soul spreads its wings and every person is a dancer!”, this is how Rudolf Laban saw it. His dance concept is correspondingly supportive, capturing movement in all its complexity - through a clear system that divides dance into spatial, dynamic, shaping and body aspects. In the workshop we experience different movement qualities e.g. delicate or strong, quick or sustained, direct or flexible, controlled or free and we experiment with other dance themes of Laban and how they enrich dance, perception and presence. We focus on the interaction with others as well as dealing creatively with space, shape-changing and body actions. We try to understand our preferences in the different aspects of movement, find our own patterns and individual style in dance and explore new ideas. Variety and clarity can help to broaden our dynamic range and grow in the variety and expressiveness in our movement.
This workshop is a requirement for the Laban/Bartenieff Certificate Program.
