Description

In this workshop, choreographer Lee Méir and musician-dancer Allessio Castelacci explore groove and polyrhythm as forms of coexistence, where diverse voices collaborate without losing individuality, raising questions around the concept of 'being with.' The workshop is grounded in Méir's "shifting mediums" movement method—developed with Castellacci—which examines the fluid transfer of motion between bodies, voices, objects, costumes, and space, blurring the lines between human and non-human, initiator and receiver. Participants will engage in physical and vocal exercises, as well as work with costumes and objects, exploring how these elements shape choreography by becoming carriers of sound and movement. They will also investigate rhythmic identities, from simple patterns to complex polyrhythms, and reflect on their artistic, social, and cultural manifestations.
