In PUNK BOLERO, Danilo Andrés addresses the connection between the Voice and the Supernatural in Performance. Drawing inspirations from rituals of spirit Possession and the invocation of supernatural energies, Danilo will research with the dancers a moving-vocal score using techniques from Metal music, such as Growling, Overtone & Guttural singing, in combination with lyrics from Latin American "Boleros", which consist of typical romantic songs, similar to German Schlager. The main focus of the dance research and voice composition will be the glitch between these two totally different vocal styles: the voice of the stereotype of romantic love in the Latin American "bolero" from one side; and the deep, raspy & monstrous sound of the guttural voice from the other. Along with this, Danilo Andrés will support the participants to create a language of gestures that articulates how supernatural energies, spirits, and demons influence physical expression and how dance can be used as a medium for spiritual transformation of the spaces.

In this training, we work with the amplification of breathing and gaze as the main tools to create dance and performance. We bring the body in motion, keeping in mind the concept of a body always in excess, monstrous, porous, endless, and open to mutating with the environment, melting beyond the limits of ‘human anatomy’. The dance work consists of manifesting in space the power of the raw energy, and the reverberation of the inner cores of the body: cellular breathing, fluids, heartbeats, and volume of breath. Dancers will be encouraged to work with a high level of availability and malleability, not only in the body but especially in their level of attention and energetic states.
