Kurs with Ixchel Mendoza Hernández, Cristiana Casadio

We start the class with softly connecting with each other and with the space. We continue with slow exercises on the floor, opening the body joints, making the body accessible. The class builds up easily, slowly getting into real motion. Through out different movement sequences, we will soften the body to then take the space sliding, rolling and finding diverse ways to get up and then back down into the floor. It´s perfect for people looking for an energetic and refreshing evening. In this class you will strengthen your body, and at the same time move with fluidity and speed.

Ixchel Mendoza Hernández

Ixchel Mendoza Hernández is a Mexican choreographer and performer based in Berlin. She completed her choreography and dance studies at Artez Arnheim in 2007. From 2012 until 2015 she had been engaged in the MA Solo, Dance, Authorship (SoDA) at Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz (HZT) in Berlin. During that period she made explorations to provoke the audience to experience a certain kind of 'images' which are not present in vision, nevertheless still present – a phenomena she called 'Visual Ghost'. Her last two works "THE TWOFOLD PARADOX" and "The Reversed Alchemist: Figure 1-3" had premiered in the frame of Open Spaces. As performer she worked together with Kat Válastur, s-h-i-f-t-s, Susanne Kennedy, Clement Layes, Laurie Young, Elpida Orfanidou, among others.
