W-2 / BodySchool : Caring for our Necks
In the frame of Winter Tanz 2016/17
BodySchool is the application of somatic and contemporary dance techniques to everyday life situations. In this workshop, Malcolm shares some of the resources he collected and developed while overcoming a serious neck injury. Feldenkrais, experiential anatomy, ideokinesis and explorations of spatial orientation are woven into a process aiming to support easier alignment and integration of the neck.This includes ways of understanding the neck in anatomical terms and using orientation to the external environment to support easier alignment of the neck.
Malcolm Manning is a movement researcher, educator, artist. He teaches-somatically oriented dance technique, improvisation/composition, contact improvisation, authentic movement. He helped develop and teaches on the Dance And Somatics course at ISLO, Finland and also teaches regularly in the dance department of the Danish National School of Performing Arts.
