Contemporary African

Kurs with Felix Ofosu Dompreh

My class is an invitation to discover different traditional and contemporary African dance techniques through a harmonious balance of rhythm education, somatic awareness, choreography and improvisation.
You will get to know the dynamics of strength and flexibility, deepen the contact with the floor and refine your dialogue with the music. Through the support of the live drumming you can experience a unique flow of strenth and inspiration. The experience of how different forms in the African traditions are related to specific energetic responses allows you alternate highly dynamic phases with more meditative moments, to expand your vocabulary and to develop the self-confidence necessary for creating your own style. Beginners will be guided gently towards the basic skills while advanced dancers are given the opportunity to question their habits and expand their horizon. But most of all a dance class is shaped by the people who attend it. My main aim is to create a space where the group can start to perceive the strength and inspiration coming from each of its members and turn it into a collective experience.

"I have participated in many workshops of African Dance, with different teachers and methods.  But Natascha's class is special. Her love and her enthusiasm for the dance and the music is absolutely  contagious, she is a remarkable observer and pays attention to every one of her students.  She teaches us to feel the music in the body, with all our senses, before we even start to take the first step. This approach enables us to really grasp the beautiful choreographies and complex rhythms..." R.L, Austria, singer
