apap production studio berlin: Time to Meet - Navaridas & Deutinger „I would like to be a better person“

Open Studio by Marta Navaridas, Alex Deutinger

“Time to Meet” is a series of open rehearsals and discussions, a meeting place for exchange and feedback on artistic processes, this time with the artists Marta Navaridas and Alex Deutinger.
Marta Navaridas and Alex Deutinger are experimenting in their new performance a bottom-up approach to populism and its relationship with 'Populus', the people. Starting from the dance floor up to the last row of the grandstand they are wondering: who is this nation instrumentalized by populists, democrats, demagogues from the left and right in policy. How many people can a person represent? Or otherwise: Can a person be the people? 'I would like to be a better person' is about the paradox, to be an individual and a part of an anonymous crowd. On stage, Marta Navaridas negotiates physically her current state under the pseudonym 'The People'. Sitting in the audience, equipped with a microphone, Alex Deutinger confirms, modifies, breaks, reconfigures this state in a continuous rhythmic monologue. A self-reflective 'I - the people' takes stock of itself and the world in general.
