Talk with Rafaela Sahyoun
What brings us here together? This is one of the ( many ) questions that permeates the current collaborative research of Rafaela Sahyoun. In this talk she will open up a space for reflections and exchange on questioning as a way to dive into body practices.
Rafaela Sahyoun is a dance artist based between Brazil and Europe. Her work shifts between performing, producing and designing experiences within the arts. In parallel, teaching plays a big role in her practice. Since 2019 is a guest teacher at PERA School of Performing Arts – GAU, teaching at the Dance Bachelor Program. Produces and teaches the first-round Audition for SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro since 2017. Recently a guest teacher at Cie. Toula Limnaios and for the second time holds the space for an experience at Tanzfabrik in the frame of Sommer Tanz. Currently, is a performer in the productions As They Are – Mantras for the body by Jean Abreu (UK/BR), Supernada by Clarice Lima (BR) and in a replay by Porto based choreographer Renan Martins (PT/BR). Recently in Berlin she performed in Vortex by Sara Shelton Mann (USA). As a maker, she is ahead of NINGUEMMESOLTA (Don’t Lose Me). Rafaela is the artistic director and curator of Saia Pra Santa – dança e práticas corporais; a dance immersive program in Amparo – São Paulo, Brazil since 2017. www.rafasahyoun.com
