In the frame of Open Spaces/Sommer Tanz 2019

What brings us here together? This is one of the ( many ) questions that permeates the current collaborative research of Rafaela Sahyoun. In this talk she will open up a space for reflections and exchange on questioning as a way to dive into body practices.

Rafaela Sahyoun

Rafaela Sahyoun is a dance artist based in São Paulo, Brazil. Her work shifts between performing, teaching & making. Since 2019 Rafaela has been a guest teacher and collaborator at Pera School of Performing Arts – GAU teaching the Bachelor's Degree in Dance as well as leading the auditions. Besides teaching, she has made two dance productions at the university: VAWM (20/21); Wheel of Radical Affection (2021). Since 2020 she teaches at the Post-Graduate Program Corpo: Dança, Teatro e Performance at Célia Helena Centro de Artes e Educação in São Paulo. Rafaela is a faculty member in the dance curriculum at ECO Teatral, a theater formation program in São Paulo. Since 2020 she has been a company member of Cia. Perversos Polimorfos (BR). She is featured in productions by Sara Shelton Mann (USA), Judith Sánches Ruíz (CU/DE), Renan Martins (DE/BR), Alessandro Sciarroni (IT), Morena Nascimento(BR),  Clarice Lima (BR),  Marco Torrice (IT/BE), Clair Lefevrè (FR/AT), Nigel Charnoch (GB), Willi Dorner (AT), and other people she admires. From 2015 till 2018 she was a company member of Jorge Garcia Dance Company in São Paulo. Rafaela graduated from SEAD - Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (Austria) in 2013 and graduated with the program Dance Studies at Trinity Laban (London) in 2010. www.rafasahyoun.com
