O-1 / Klein Technique™ - fully booked

Workshop with Barbara Mahler
In the frame of Oster Tanz 2018

"Klein Technique™ is a body of work, concise and yet continually evolving, geared toward the health and longevity of movers of all kinds. The main thrust of the work is for dancers to find their own essence, identity and integrity and take that into movement. As a means to that end our work is at the level of the bone. Klein Technique is not a release technique but rather a path for growth and change, to move.” Barbara Mahler

Klein Technique™ is grounded in principles that go beyond aesthetic viewpoints, providing strong and grounding underpinnings for all types of movement. The work done in class is to re-educate the body with an interweaving of theory and practice on a physical level, at the level of the bone and the deep internal musculature and supportive connections that move and ground us. The result – a clarity and sureness of movement efficiency, fluidity and a new level of understanding the innate intelligence of one’s body. With these teachings we come closer to realizing who we are as movers – as individuals; unique in our creativity, our movement, our being. Our time in the morning sessions will be devoted to the application of the essential principles of Klein Technique™ as it relates to dance the essential building blocks for rich and articulate dancing, of all forms. The class facilitates fuller use of the ball and socket joints and their figure 8's. Some days we work with a barre using simple phrases for clear use of legs, trunk and shoulder girdle/arms, connecting us to the earth and giving us the floor as we reach into space. In the afternoons we will draw upon the details and principles of the morning and work to translate and transmit these ideas into movement that holds no particular aesthetic. There will be time to think, to explore with the goal of gaining insight into one's own technique and movement preferences.

Morning: 10:00-12:00 + Afternoon: 13:30-16:30
