Workshop

Maya M. Carroll
This workshop stems from a deep interest and appreciation towards the ways our bodies and minds perform movement and actions in space; it addresses our physical orientation and imagination as essentials for creating composition and its spatial layers. Attentive towards flow and precision, the work encourages vibrant listening through kinesthetic, introspective/outrospective sense of space. The interior/exterior physical world where actions are performed is acknowledged with deepened awareness, through proximity and distance, mass and atmosphere. With these elements, we will observe how space is perceived and becomes a significant presence in our dance making. The work draws its fascination from the dancing body and its limitless expression, people and their environ- ment and choreographic narratives. The workshop is aimed for movers, dancers and performers who wish to engage with instant composition at a high level. Movement/dance background experience is required.
