What knowledge did Tanzfabrik collect in the 1980s? How and why did the artists decided to develop new working methods and create a self-determined location? What did Berlin’s dance landscape look like during this time? Excerpts from comprehensive interviews regarding the first productions will be compared and new working methods as well as aesthetic means of expression become visible.

Andrea Keiz

Andrea Keiz is an educated biologist and teacher for dance improvisation. Since 2000 she works as a freelance artist in the field of video documentation of performing arts. Besides filming and editing, she is advising students in documentation, camera work and archiving in several dance programs in Germany as well as offering workshops in video//dance and perception. 1994 she was invited to join a production by Dieter Heitkamp/ Tanzfabrik Berlin as production assistent and stayed. Joining dance classes as work exchange and assisting in a few other productions, Tanzfabrik influenced her involvement in the Berlin Dance scene deeply.
