Camille Chapon

Camille Chapon aka Jofe D’mahl is a Berlin-based dance artist whose work moves at the intersection of performance, visual arts, and pedagogy. His artistic practice is grounded in the plasticity of improvisation and its relationship to the creative process, with a particular focus on movement, rhythm, and group dynamics. As a director, curator, and host, Camille led the experimental cabaret Carte Blanche, an ongoing platform for mixed performance formats. He is co-director of the Balboa Swing Club alongside Giedre Paplaityte, where he curates swing dance events and teaches Balboa both in Berlin and internationally. Camille collaborated and performed with choreographers and artists, including Lina Gomez, Niels Weijer, Magdalena Meindl, Lyllie Rouvière, and Emma Tricard, contributing to diverse creative environments that span stage, club, and studio settings. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from the École supérieure d’art et de design and a bachelor’s degree in Dance, Context and Choreography from HZT Berlin. His artistic work has been supported by the DIS-TANZ-SOLO award (2021) from NEUSTART KULTUR, for the project Play, Dare and Shoot! —a series of experimental workshops and laboratories. In 2020, he received the Tanzpraxis-Stipendium from the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe (2020/21).
