Raffaela Galdi

Raffaella Galdi (Genoa-Italy, 1973) based in Berlin, is a teacher, former choreographer and dancer. She has been teaching regularly at the DANCEWORKS Berlin school for eight years and is responsible for the training in contemporary dance, improvisation, dance composition and repertoire. Raffaella's dance pedagogical approach is based on three principles: the connection between body and mind, the use of the bone structure and its alignment, and the body's relationship to gravity. She encourages discovering the body as an instrument and moving away from habitual movement patterns. Her role as an educator is to coach, guide, help with suggestions, assignments, and exercises and to share and pass on her knowledge. As a dancer Raffaella was a member of the Belgian company Thor (1997-1999), the Dutch company Het Spui Theater (2000), the Berlin company Cie. Toula Limnaios (2002-2003) and the Luxembourg company Cie. Unit Control (2003-2005). As a freelance dancer she has performed with numerous choreographers throughout Europe and Africa and collaborated in creations by (Rui Horta, Giorgio Rossi, LaborGras, Christoph Winkler, Ingo Reulecke). Trained in classical, modern, and contemporary dance, she attended the Rotterdamse Dansacademie in Holland (1995-97), where she received her diploma in modern dance, the Ecole de Danse Rosella Hightower, in Cannes, France (1994-95) and the College of Fine Arts in Genoa, Italy (1987-91), where she received her Diploma in Fine Arts. Raffaella's early studies in architecture, drawing and plastic arts influence her approach to movement and performing arts. www.incorpo.org
