The class is based on movement research, which I have been working with for the past 8 years. it investigates the potential of emerging Traditional African dance vocabularies with “Neo African dance” idioms as well as urban dance elements. It will be a fun motivating dance class, syncopating movements to various African rhythms. Together with the participants, we will explore creative movement phrases, with progressive mobility, strength, flexibility, coordination and sense of rhythm and space. The use of isolation of the body, articulation and undulation of the spine will be explored as well. The class is also intended to instill a sense of body consciousness, which will guild you through your professional journey as a mover.
