Description

How do you make space for choice while dancing? How can you be fully immersed in what you're doing, present to sensations, imaginations, feelings, and actions, and choreograph your dance from within? From the smallest gestures to the longest sequences of movements, how can they feel intentional, formed, and articulate? In these sessions, we will explore these topics through improvisation and instant composition, both solo, in pairs, and in groups. We will learn to be present to what emerges in the moment and to choose which impulses to follow, expand, and manifest. We will explore individual images and weave unique dances around them. We will build patterns and disentangle habitual choices. We will dive deep into your burning questions and see how dance becomes an oracle that points to new possibilities. You may recognize a choice presenting itself in every moment and choose to step in. This practice is rooted in my 15 years of working with dreams and imagery, and an ongoing improvisation practice with Cranky Bodies a/Company and previously with Rosalind Crisp.
