Description

Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) is a poetic and experiential approach to dance training that is unique for the ways in which it fosters both, technical skills and artistic sensibilities. Poetic imagery, music and sound, shared partner work and playful movement explorations are the fundamental elements of this method. SRT illuminates the fascinating dialogue between our kinaesthetic imagination and our movement. By practicing letting go of unnecessary holding in the body’s tissues and allowing change and movement to happen, we become more available for new possibilities in our dancing. At the same time, we develop trust to let our bodies lead the way, more and more, and often find a sense of wholeness. SRT promotes a multi-directional, dynamic alignment and to move with suppleness, efficiency, articulation and a free breath. These qualities enhance a stronger presence and open more layers in our dancing, which unfolds in the interplay of our kinesthetic imagination, movement and stillness.

Bettina Neuhaus (Amsterdam) is an Independent Dance Artist, mentor and certified Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) teacher at Introductory (2004) and Ongoing (2011) levels. For over 30 years, Instant Composition in performance and the collaboration with dancers, musicians, visual artists and light designers have been at the heart of her work. With an increasing interest in human ecology, she has developed a movement practice in natural environments that she shares since 2010 through projects and special workshops. Bettina teaches Instant Composition and SRT at independent studios, art academies and universities in Europe and South America.  www.bettinaneuhaus.com
