François Chaignaud graduated from the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris in 2003. He has danced for various choreographers, including Alain Buffard, Boris Charmatz, Emmanuelle Huynh and Gilles Jobin. He created his first piece in 2004 and since then has regarded dance as a global form of expression. His works are characterized by the combination of song and dance as well as an examination of history, which is visible both in his own works and in collaborations with artists such as Jérôme Marin, Marie Caroline Hominal and Théo Mercier. Between 2005 and 2016, he collaborated with Cecilia Bangolea, with several works being presented internationally. In 2021, he founded the production company mandorleproductions, which focuses on collaborations with artists such as NinaLaisné, Marie-Pierre Brébant, Akaji Maro, Dominique Brun and Sasha J. Blondeau. He also creates pieces for larger groups of performers, including “Soufflette” (2018), “t u m u l u s” (2022) and “In absentia” (2024) with Geoffroy Jourdain. Most recently, he created the pieces “Mirlitons” with Aymeric Hainaux and “Petites Joueuses” and is currently working on “Último helecho” with Nadia Larcher and Nina Laisné.
