Description

In this changing world, improvisation and authenticity are deeply intertwined concepts that play a crucial role in bridging traditional movements and contemporary dance. They represent a shift from rigid adherence to prescribed forms towards a more personal, expressive, and evolving understanding of dance. I want to focus on spontaneity and exploration, responding to internal impulses, external stimuli (like music or the environment), and interactions with other dancers. While many traditional dance forms are highly structured and codified, improvisation isn't entirely absent. A-Uga, is an African contemporary movement analysis and pedagogy class that provides space to develop and deepen own artistic practice in dance. This dance workshop is beyond just movements, it is a spiritual connection and understanding of oneself: we manage to balance our energies so we can achieve more, stress less, and work happier.

Michael Kaddu

As a Ugandan dance artist Michael has a strong base in Ugandan traditional dances and tribal spiritual practices. His interest lies on deconstructing movements to let the body create and transfer information, secrets, and rhythms to build up the body's own movement vocabulary. Michael has a decade and a half of experience in performing and teaching dance.
