Description

ILLUSIONS_ bones and keys continues an ongoing series of expansive, immersive, and site-specific installations made up of sculptures, instruments, and stage lighting. Here, collision is embraced as a potentially generative moment — one that opens up new perspectives and unpredictable compositions. Metal sculptures clink against each other, bones scratch the floor, wind machines set rotating electric guitars in motion — resulting in a shifting sculptural concert, a layered cacophony of sound and light. At its core, the installation explores beauty, theatricality, and spectacle, appearing both inviting and eerily unsettling. Audiences can observe this system of constant transformation from the outside, or step inside, walk through, and partly interact with its elements, shaping their movement and the resulting soundscape. Further, July Weber and invited guests will activate and expand the installation through concerts and performative interventions.

Biographies

July Weber

July Weber is a choreographer, sculptor, and curator. July's work deals with spaces of interaction involving body, material, and movement, and is situated at the intersection of choreography and visual art. New materialist ideas around the deconstruction of power dynamics within subject-object relations are a driving force in their practice. July has received various residencies and grants, such as the Berlin Art Prize in 2015 and was invited to Tanzplattform in 2022. July founded NEW FEARS Gallery, which won the prize for best projects-pace in 2023.
