Presented as part of Emerging Change Tanzfestival at Tanzfabrik Berlin BÜHNE
As part of the
Emerging Change Tanzfestival,
Sointu Pere presents a Residency Showing at
Tanzfabrik Berlin BÜHNE, exploring movement, identity, and the politics of visibility.
"This embodied research explores belonging through movement, understanding identity as something fluid and continuously emerging. I draw inspiration from social and club dance cultures, reconnecting with my own lineage of these forms. I approach them as cultural spaces of soulful groove, communal care, and embodied survival strategies.
Through movement, I look forward to exploring different somatic states. I am interested in how sensuality is experienced in the body: What rhythms and sounds invite it? How can slowness create agency? How can these internal shifts invite emotional release? The research also engages with the politics of being seen. I ask how sensuality and the act of taking up space can be reclaimed while maintaining authorship over my own narrative, and how movement can become a site for negotiating belonging and not-belonging. How does intimacy shift under the gaze? Can pleasure remain self-defined in a performative space?"
