Iskra Sukarovaaccomlished her ballet education in the state ballet school in Skopje. Shefinished her contemporary dance studies at the National Conservatorium Superiorin Lyon, France, and in 2002 obtained her Master’s Degree at the Laban Centerin London, UK. She has completed numerous dance trainings with established artists suchas: Susanne Linke, Mark Tompkins, Joe Alegado, Milli Biterlli, Yoshiko Chuma,Allyson Green and Jennifer Lacey. Sukarova’s pieces have toured regionally and  internationally. She has been honored withmany fellowships such as Arts Link and DanceWeb. Sukarova was a principal soloist in the Macedonian Opera and Balletsince 1991-2010, where she was also appointed as artistic director of theBallet company from 2002-2004. In 2009 the Artistic Director of the Choreographic Centre Josef Nadjhonored Sukarova with a residency to co-create the piece Formula which toured internationally from 2009-2011.She is one of the founders of Lokomotiva - Centre for New Initiatives inArts and Culture since 2003. At Lokomotiva she has been engaged as artisticdirector for the contemporary dance programe. Since 2008 she is the co-founderand co-programer for the contemporary dance festival Locomotion in Skopje. Sheis also one of the founders of the Balkan Dance Network and the NOMAD DanceAcademy project. Since 2010 Sukarova is employed as professor at the state faculty forMusic - department of Dance pedagogy in Skopje. In February 2014 she obtainedher PHD at the state faculty of Theatre Arts in Skopje.
