Richard Oberscheven

Richard Oberscheven is a professional dancer, choreographer, lecturer and DJ. He is trained in classical and contemporary dance, improvisation and Feldenkrais and holds a Bachelor of Arts in DANCE at the HfMDK Frankfurt am Main. During his studies he received a scholarship from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. As a dancer Richard received engagements for companies and choreographers such as Tony Rizzi and the Bad Habits, Taulant Shehu, Saarländisches Staatsballett Saarbrücken and Freies Tanz Theater Frankfurt. His own choreographic works have been presented in the Solo Duo Festival Barnes Crossing, Gallus Theater Frankfurt and Felina Theater Mannheim. As a lecturer he teaches professional training at Marameo Berlin, TanzFaktur Cologne, EinTanzHaus Mannheim, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, tanznetz|Freiburg, ProfiTraining Leipzig, gives workshops in various dance studios as well as at Frankfurt University for Applied Sciences. His teaching is inspired and influenced by various improvisation systems such as Improvisation Technologies by William Forsythe. In his practice Richard experiments with dynamic changes of positions and spatial directions and searches for natural movement elements to experience dance as living anatomy.
