Profitraining with May Zarhy

This class integrates somatic work with influences from Feldenkrais Method and Release technique, starting off with soft anatomical awareness warm-up directing focus inwards. From there, through connecting to one’s core, we will gradually move the energy up and across the space and open awareness to the other moving bodies. Eventually leading into an improvisational flow, where one’s listening and sensitivity are at the center of attention.

May Zarhy

May Zarhy is a freelance choreographer. Her choreographic and pedagogic practice focus on deep listening, by which to explore and negotiate presence in an already dense space.

Zarhy is a graduate of Codarts in Rotterdam, the Netherlands (2006), and ex.er.ce choreography program directed by Xavier Le Roy and Mathilde Monnier in Montpellier, France (2007). During her studies she worked as William Forsythe’s assistant at the Forsythe Company (2005). Later, Zarhy co-founded with Ioannis Mandafounis and Fabrice Mazliah the collaborative trio “Mamaza” (2009 - 2014), with whom she created and performed around the world. Since 2014, she has been creating stage works and participatory works in the public sphere. Between 2021-23 Zarhy was director of the post-graduate choreography program in Kelim center Israel. She has been working as a dramaturg and rehearsal director for fellow artists, such as: Adi Boutrous, Fabrice Mazliah, and others. Zarhy has been teaching among others in: K3 Hamburg, Maslool training program TLV, The school of visual theater Jerusalem, and more.
