Description

Two girls stand illuminated by a cold beam of light, looking back as if they have caught you in the act. Something has gone terribly wrong: their bodies are no longer entirely their own. They become ghost detectives, tracing the crime of the gaze that has exposed them to view.

Their investigation leads through a haunted archive of choreographic machines that have historically observed, classified and disciplined the body: the anatomical theatre, where exposed flesh became a baroque spectacle; the Salpêtrière Hospital, where photographic technologies turned female bodies into objects of diagnosis; and the Soviet factory, where machines reorganised the body according to the rhythms of production.

Traces and exposures”, the new work by Girls in Scores (Daria Iuriichuk and Polina Fenko),moves through this anachronistic terrain of ghosts and algorithms, girls and machines, tracing how the gaze has always choreographed its subjects before they even had the chance to move.

Biographies

Daria Iuriichuk

Daria Iuriichuk is a dance artist, researcher, and educator based in Berlin. Her works explore the political dimensions of performativity, infrastructural critique, and body politics. In her recent research and artistic projects, she examines choreography as an algorithmic medium that abstracts movement into data and its affective potential. Since 2024, she is in an ongoing collaboration with Tanzfabrik Berlin BÜHNE. In 2025, they co-produced pOOr Butt Zany. Daria’s works were also presented at the IETM meeting (ACUD Berlin, 2025), MyWildFlag festival (Stockholm 2022), Hellerau (Dresden 2020), Meyerhold Theatre (Moscow 2019).

Polina Fenko

Polina Fenko is a Berlin-based dance artist and dramaturge. Through her artistic and dramaturgical practice, she explores the intersections of social choreography, somatechnics, and perceptual politics, as well as collective embodied approaches to archival materials, scores, and notations.
Her latest solo performance-lecture (Sans) Ordre investigates the intersections of choreographic scores with criminological and militaristic surveillance technologies. As a dance dramaturge, she has worked with the TanzTage Festival at Sophiensæle for the past two years and collaborates with independent artists. As a dancer, she has performed in works by Simone Forti, Alexandra Pirici, Kiori Sherwood-Kawai, and Kirill Savchenkov, among others.

Girls in Scores

Girls in Scores is a collaborative artistic research project by Polina Fenko and Daria Iuriichuk at the intersection of expanded choreography and media studies. Through multiple formats such as performances and workshops, they examine movement scores, forms of body capture and the infrastructures of control embedded within them. Their work has been developed in Berlin and internationally (ITI-Germany, affair gallery).
