Description

“I could stay here forever.”
“Yes, imagine never having to leave.”
“Order is beauty.”
“Mmmm… only to a certain extent. I wouldn’t go that far.”
— Rat and Bear, Fischli and Weiss, 2008

“All over the place (Insisting)”is an intergenerational choreography by two adults and five children: Lea Martini (47) and Magdalena Meindl (37), together with Alva (9), Anthea (9), Kaja (8), Lilith (10) and Rebekka (9).

Together, they create a world somewhere between order and disorder, precision and excess. They count choreographed peas — meticulously, playfully, and quite wildly. Rules become movement, movement becomes composition, and composition is constantly threatened by the pleasure of letting everything fall apart.

"Let’s build a world together. A structure, a system, a composition. Let’s make it as elaborate as possible — this way and no other. We meet over months and years, in the evenings, early in the morning, again and again. We invent rules, follow them meticulously, and then break them. And when we get bored, we open the door to chaos and let it in. Because there should always be something to sort through."

Biographies

Lea Martini

Lea Martini works internationally across the fields of performance, dance, and choreography and is based in Berlin. She studied at the European Dance Development Centre in Arnhem and at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. She develops works, often in collaboration with other artists, including the performance collective Deter/Müller/Martini, Josep Caballero García, and Chris Leuenberger. From 2019 to 2023, she was a member of PSR Kollektiv at the Heizhaus of Uferstudios, where she co-curated events that brought together social and aesthetic perspectives. Her dance practice often explores states of physical intensity and the collective knowledge inscribed within them.
