S 18 / Voice Thru the Body

Workshop with Carol Swann
In the frame of Sommer Tanz 2015 / Open Spaces#2-2015

The Voice is explored as a “Muscle of the Soul” (Roy Hart Theater), contacting energy sources in the body which inform us of the many qualities, characters, pitches and tones that are authentic expressions of each unique individual. Whether sounding, speaking or singing, the body’s freedoms and tensions are revealed through the voice. Using improvisational exercises, body based practices and principles from; Contact Improvisation, Alexander Technique, Body-Mind Centering and Authentic Movement, this workshop will provide a rich and challenging laboratory for the person interested in deepening the resonance of their physical and vocal expression. World music including Balkan and African singing at the end of each class will allow “form” to bridge us back into the every day world.
