W-02 / Dances of Aliveness and Presence – Skinner Releasing Technique™ (fully booked)

Workshop with Bettina Neuhaus
In the frame of Winter Tanz 2019/20

Skinner Releasing Technique™ (SRT) is an integrative approach to movement developed by American dance artist Joan Skinner. It is recognized as a significant way to experience and empower the creative self in the act of dancing, tapping into one’s own imagination, intuition and wisdom. SRT stimulates the process of letting go of unnecessary tension, releasing new possibilities in how we perceive and how we dance. Poetic imagery and hands-on partner studies facilitate deep and more nuanced kinaesthetic experience of movement. Noticing as a first step for change and allowing movement to happen are key to this practice that provides specific tools to access effortlessness and multi-directional alignment, depth, presence and freedom in movement and stillness. We will engage with the foundational SRT principles individually, with a partner, and as a group.
