Open Call: This is (still) not normal
Call for participants
For the artistic project “This is (still) not normal",, the Spanish Berlin based artists Juan Dominguez and Arantxa Martinez are looking for eight professional and non-professional performers from Berlin. As part of the Radialsystem and Tanzfabrik Berlin program, “This is (still) not normal” will run into a performative outdoors piece during two weeks from August 22nd-28th, and September 5th-11th 2022 (Rehearsals from 8th to 21st of August and from 29th-4th of September).
The invited performers will become part of the project that will be presented in the backyard of Radialsystem and Uferstudios. They will present themselves by adopting everyday games and postures, dealing with different body identities and their representations.
The body language of the project is based in everyday postures and movements. We will work with qualities of stillness and motion, body contact, interaction with performers and viewers, voice and laughter. Daily training will be based in somatic practices.
The project rethinks intimacy in public spaces, challenging the body's social perception automatisms. The aim is to stop the movement of everyday actions in public spaces and to talk about the body we all have and hide. The performers bodies will propose the viewers to recognize and mirror themselves and to create a space and time to be together.
We welcome submissions from any individual over 40 years old who feels addressed by issues related to body presence, performative stillness and interaction, who is willing to work in a expanded mode and in public spaces.

Conditions
↪ Knowledge of English is required.
↪ Please note that the participants in this project will work with nudity and physical contact on some occasions.
↪ All non-professional as well as professional performers over 40 years are welcome.
↪ Performers with disabilities are welcome. The project is not barrier-free at all levels. But we will try to accommodate your needs. If you have a particular requirement, please mention it in your application.
↪ The selected participants will receive a salary of 4.000€ for the 5 weeks in total.
↪ Please note that the participants in this project will work with nudity and physical contact on some occasions.
↪ All non-professional as well as professional performers over 40 years are welcome.

↪ An audition will take place on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th at Collective Studio, Pasedagplatz 3-4, 13088 Berlin. Aufgang – B, Erdgeschoss.
↪ Applicants should be free for the period of 8th of August till the 11th of September.
↪ rehearsal period from 8th to 21st of August and from 29th-4th of September from 10h to 18h.
↪ Performances will take place between August 22nd-28th, and September 5th-11th 2022, 4 days a week, always from Wednesdays or Thursdays to Sundays for approx. 6 hours a day counting with preparation (timing will follow).
↪ Applicants must be free on those dates.
