More about our presentation formats
Working in the field of contemporary art today means creating occasions, contexts, and moments that no longer show “what art is,” but rather “what art does.” Tanzfabrik Berlin Bühne offers a wide range of formats to frame the artistic projects presented in our annual program.

Falten
Since autumn 2022, the presentation format “Falten” has stood for a recurring condensation of artistic projects connected through loose thematic or conceptual links. It is neither a festival nor a season, but rather exists in-between – featuring events such as talks, performances, exhibitions, first rehearsal impressions, and premieres.

Tanznacht Berlin
Since 2000, Tanznacht Berlin has showcased the diversity of choreographic works by artists living and working in Berlin. The festival changes its curatorial leadership every two years to respond to evolving artistic approaches and audience discourses. Between festival editions, the discursive format “Tanznacht Forum” and additional events take place.

Tanznacht Forum
Since 2015, Tanznacht Forum has complemented the festival during its off years with discursive formats. It provides space for exchange and reflection on current questions and developments in the dance scene.

Time to Meet
Time to Meet combines open rehearsals with conversational formats to offer deeper insights into artistic processes and foster exchange between artists and audiences.

schnippeln & plaudern
Our open regulars’ table at Grüntaler 9 invites everyone to cook, connect and get to know each other. Hosted by changing artists, each gathering is shaped through shared meals and conversations. Neighbors, artists, familiar faces and newcomers – all are welcome.
Publications
Between 2021 and 2024, Tanzfabrik Berlin published an annual print and digital publication that offered a retrospective look at the projects presented during each year. These publications are more than simple documentation — they are artistic encounters in themselves.

Stream - Live Art Writing
Stream is a platform for texts dealing with “Live Art” in the broadest sense. The published contributions focus on individual pieces or entire works, reflecting the authors’ own practice or that of other artists, and engage with concepts, developments, and changes within Live Art as a whole. Stream views writing as an autonomous artistic practice and provides space for experimental, literary, theoretical, and critical texts.

Stream is hosted by Tanzfabrik and regularly publishes articles about events at Tanzfabrik Berlin BÜHNE, and by other Berlin venues. The platform operates as an open and flexible space without fixed editorial guidelines, placing writing and artistic reflection at its core.
