Publication

Between 2021 and 2024, Tanzfabrik Berlin BÜHNE published an annual print and digital publication that offered a retrospective look at the projects presented during each year. These publications are more than simple documentation — they are artistic encounters in themselves.

The texts within these volumes emerge as memories and collages, as conversations and correspondences. Often created in collaborative writing processes, they reflect on performances from a perspective that intertwines artistic thinking and personal positioning. The writers engage with the works they have experienced not from a place of neutrality, but from within their own biographies — as spectators, as artists, as individuals shaped by distinct social, cultural, and emotional contexts.

In doing so, these writings make visible that the reception and understanding of live art can never be detached from who we are. They explore how our personal experiences, vulnerabilities, and backgrounds shape the ways we perceive and process artistic works. The publications, therefore, not only document what has taken place, but also contribute to an ongoing narrative — they continue writing our individual and collective stories.
