The Migrant Dance
Nora Amin: Video: FINAL PROJECT / Residency 2023
Within the frame of her residency in Tanzfabrik Berlin, Nora Amin invited communities of women with a history of migration or displacement to find collaborative embodied spaces where dance could become an encounter of mutual empowerment and the celebration of the self.
By following the questions on
↪ How Baladi dance –known as “bellydance” in the western context– can be decolonised through an embodied feminist approach?
↪ Which choreographies can emerge from acknowledging the traumatic experiences of the migrant body and of trans-generational wounds?
Nora’s residency culminated with this dance video, aiming to reach out to a wider audience by sharing a community dance as a form of embodied healing choreography.
