Tanznacht Berlin 2020: Vertigo (Part One)

Open Air Formats, Exhibition, Performances
Tanznacht Berlin will take place from 9-13 September under the artistic direction of Jacopo Lanteri and Julian Weber. Artists from various disciplines will show their work. The title of this year's edition, Vertigo (Part One), refers to the cinematographic Vertigo effect, in which a feeling of dizziness is created by the irritation of common viewing habits. Such a dizziness can also arise in the experience of rapidly successive crises that overwhelm the uniform normality of being in the world. The Tanznacht is also affected by this crisis due to the events of the last months: Originally planned as a melting pot of disciplines, artists, audiences and dance enthusiasts, it was decided, due to the coronavirus pandemic and the associated spacing regulations, to break up the festival in its original density and to expand it to two editions over the period 2020-2021.

The focus of this year's edition is the choreographic group exhibition in Studio 14, which will bring artistic positions from various disciplines into conversation with each other over the course of the entire festival. There will also be open air performances and performative tours through the city. For blind and visually impaired audiences there will be audio descriptions and haptic tours of individual events.

The complete programme and trailers for the individual events can be found at
