Open Spaces #3-2015

04.11.2015-11.11.2015

Tanzfabrik Berlin opens its doors three times a year for “Open Spaces”. In November 2015 the festival will be more international than ever. Performers and choreographers from Germany, Estonia, France, Canada, Austria, Romania, Russia and the USA will be showing current performances and offering insights into rehearsal processes.

Seven premieres will make clear the multifaceted nature of contemporary dance which is continually experimenting with new methods, techniques and aesthetics. Many of these works will be moving between different disciplines. Whereas Philipp Gehmacher, Julian Weber and Aline Landreau link the pictorial arts and dance in very different manners, Kareth Schaffer is inspired by film, Felix Ott by martial arts and Shannon Cooney by craniosacral therapy. But Tanzfabrik Berlin will also be presenting two premieres by artists working in collectives. Christina Ciupke, Nik Haffner and Mart Kangroo have been working as a team for a long time and are now exploring fears of loss. Sergiu Matis and Madalina Dan are working together for the first time to research similarities in their dancing lives.

May we extend a warm welcome to eight truly moving dance days!
