Technologies of Autonomy & Allowing – Skinner Releasing Technique
10 Day Intensive Skinner Releasing Technique with Bettina Neuhaus and Lizzy Le Quesne – All 15 classes of the SRT Introductory Pedagogy
Registration via workshop page
This is a rare opportunity to experience the complete class material of the SRT Introductory Pedagogy, in Germany, with two internationally recognised teachers. Following the complete introductory pedagogy in one block can provide a uniquely in-depth experience and embodied understanding of the transformative process of SRT. In this intensive, the 15 SRT classes are extended through creative and philosophical aspects of the Releasing process, aiming to offer a multilayered unfolding of one’s dancing and reflections related to it.
SRT is both a technical and poetic approach to dancing that enhances embodied intuition and presence, in movement and stillness. Kinaesthetic experience of poetic imagery, music and sound, partner work and playful movement explorations are fundamental elements of SRT. Practising letting go of unnecessary holding in the body’s tissues, and freeing the breath, we open to further possibilities of sensing and allowing and discover new dimensions of autonomy in the dance.
The 15 classes are spread across every morning and several afternoons. In some afternoon sessions, SRT principles and skills develop into creative and compositional exploration in dancing, writing and drawing. Discussions and two lecture sessions will explore conceptual, theoretical and political layers of the work.
In this workshop, Lizzy Le Quesne and Bettina Neuhaus combine their practices to develop and offer a shared vision and experience of SRT as ethical practice, supporting the technical and creative powers of presence and embodiment in a dance art that is capable of meeting the complex forces of our world.
This intensive is accessible to all and welcomes people with and without previous experience of SRT. For those considering progressing to the SRT teacher training in the future, repeated practice of the full series of classes is a requirement. On completion of the intensive, a certificate of attendance will be provided.

The workshop is in English; clarification in German is possible. The practice is based on free movement exploration, with most tasks given verbally. Content includes individual improvisation, gentle partner-work, and quiet moments on the floor, sometimes with eyes closed. Imagery and music support the movement experience. Each class ends with free writing and drawing. Some afternoons offer creative and compositional practices to deepen and expand Releasing principles into more dancing. Two lectures address conceptual, theoretical and political aspects of the work. Wear comfortable clothes and bring layers and socks for quiet floor work. If needed, a free place for an accompanying assistant can be arranged for participants with disabilities. Please note: the Kreuzberg studio is notwheelchair accessible. Teachers' Biographies
Bettina Neuhaus is an Amsterdam-based independent dance artist, performer, educator and certified SRT practitioner at Introductory (2004) and Ongoing (2011) levels. For over 30 years, Instant Composition in performance and collaboration with dancers, musicians, visual artists and light designers have been at the heart of her work. Her artistic passion centers around the narratives and poetry, which unfold in the interplay between dance, live music and language, revealing aspects of our human condition. With an increasing interest in human ecology, she has developed a movement practice in natural environments that she shares since 2010 through projects and special workshops. Bettina teaches Instant Composition and SRT and has been facilitating classes, workshops and intensives at independent studios, dance and art academies and for diverse communities in more than 15 countries. www.bettinaneuhaus.com
Lizzy Le Quesne is an award-winning independent artist, choreographer, performer and educator and certified SRT practitioner, based in London and internationally, creating multi-disciplinary works for private and public spaces since 1990. Her visual, choreographic and performance practice explores spatial, energetic and political frames for moving and feeling. Her research explores the relational depth of SRT practice and has revealed and developed ways in which SRT creatively supports the autonomic nervous system, allowing profoundly safe and expansive creative consciousness, embodied vitality and presence (Le Quesne, 2021). Lizzy has recently completed a practice-based PhD at Coventry University, exploring SRT as kinaesthetic processes of feeling and becoming through dance, as well as the creative ethics of post-somatic choreographic practices through concepts of desire and innocence (Le Quesne, 2025). www.lizzylequesne.com
